Wuhan University was founded in 1893 by Zhang Zhidong, governor of Hubei and Hunan Provinces, in late Qing Dynasty. The University houses more than 45,000 students including 12,000 postgraduates. Wuhan University also boasts a campus which covers an area of 3.67 sq km.
Wuhan University is ranked 10th among the top 100 universities in China based on Sina Ranking 2009. It is also highly ranked in the areas of Law, Engineering, Science, Management, Literature and Economics. |

On-campus:
On-campus accommodation is available at the Foreign Students Building No. 1,2,4,5 Maple Garden, on the main campus of Wuhan University. Generally, rooms are equipped with central air-conditioning, shower bath, TV, phone, internet connection plug and toilet.
Building 1: Flat with 4 bedrooms and a common living room, each student has a separate room.
Building 2: Single Room.
Building 4 & 5: Flat with 2 bedrooms and a common living room, each student has a separate bedroom.
Students have to fill up the “Room Booking” form and submit together with the SEP application.

Consular / Visa Regulations
A student visa is required (F visa of 180 days for 1 semester exchange with no physical examination required and X visa for 1 year exchange)
Apply at the China Embassy with the admission notice and visa application form (JW202) issued by Wuhan University.
Health / Medical Insurance
Student should carry adequate accident and medical insurance coverage with provisions for emergency evacuation/rescuer’s expense and repatriation for both durations of studies in China and travels within/outside China.
Exchange students are required to purchase a compulsory medical insurance at RMB600 for 1 year and RMB400 for 1 semester.
Airport Pick-up
Students have to submit their flight details one week before their arrival to fses@whu.edu.cn and exchange@whu.edu.cn or contact the Admissions office, College of Foreign Students Education at 86-27-87647553 or 68753912.
Official Transcripts
Will be issued at the start of the new semester.
Services Available to Students
Exchange students enjoy the same access as the local students to the university facilities such as the university library and sports facilities.
