Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST), a merger of four universities, was established on 26 May 2000. The 500 hectares campus is located in Wuhan and beautifully nestled at the foot of Yujia hill and beside the East Lake with green grass scattered all round.

HUST has an undergraduate population of 34,633. Ranked 9th amongst the top 100 universities in China based on Sina Ranking 2009. It has very strong foundation and expertise in Engineering, Medicine and Management disciplines.

Housing Options

On-campus:
On-campus accommodation is available at the Friendship Apartment Building. There are single, double rooms and two bedrooms with a common bathroom. Other public facilities include kitchen, laundry, gym, etc.

Off-campus:

Students may apply to the Foreign Students Office to rent rooms at Chinese homes. For further information, please contact Ms. Zheng Mingjie at 86-27-87542457 or email to fso@hust.edu.cn.

Additional Information

Consular / Visa Regulations

A student visa is required (F visa of 180 days for 1 semester exchange with no physical examination required and X visa for 1 year exchange)

Apply at the China Embassy with the admission notice and visa application form (JW202) issued by HUST.


Health / Medical Insurance

Student should carry adequate accident and medical insurance coverage with provisions for emergency evacuation/rescuer’s expense and repatriation for both durations of studies in China and travels within/outside China.

Exchange students are required to purchase a compulsory medical insurance of RMB600 per year.


Airport Pickup Services

Students have to submit their flight details one week before arrival to HUST.
