Insurance:
All international students studying in Australia are required to purchase an approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy. OSHC is a condition of the Overseas Student Visa issued by the Australian Immigration authorities. Monash University requires all commencing international students to purchase visa length cover (the duration of your visa coverage) at the time of accepting the offer before your visa can be issued. Depending on the insurance firm you buy your OSHC policy from, an OSHC policy would generally cost:

  • AUD$175 - 6 months
  • AUD$349 - 12 months

For more information about OSHC, please refer to http://www.monash.edu/international/courses/visa/information/#healthinsurance and https://www.oshcworldcare.com.au/about_oshc.aspx?language=en#whatdoes.

Visa matters:
Your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and 'Letter of Acceptance' are needed to apply for a Student Visa.  You should not leave your home country without first securing an Australian Student Visa. Exchange students are classified as a non-award student (Student visa sub class 575). Students from assessment level 3 and 4 countries, including China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, need to be aware that they may be required to provide an IELTS test score and this may lengthen the visa process.
