Insurance:
All international students studying in Australia are required to purchase an approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy. OSHC is a condition of the Overseas Student Visa issued by the Australian Immigration authorities. Depending on the insurance firm you buy your OSHC policy from, an OSHC policy would generally cost:
AUD$175 – 6 months
AUD$349 – 12 months
For more information about OSHC, please refer to http://www.international.adelaide.edu.au/cost/health/  and http://www.health.gov.au/internet/wcms/publishing.nsf/Content/health-privatehealth-providers-oscover.htm

Visa matters:
Your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and 'Letter of Acceptance' are needed to apply for a Student Visa.  You should not leave your home country without first securing an Australian Student Visa. Exchange students are classified as a non-award student (Student visa sub class 575). Students from assessment level 3 and 4 countries, including China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, need to be aware that they may be required to provide an IELTS test and this may lengthen the visa process.
