International Summer Programmes (i-SP)

In addition to regular semester exchange programmes, NUS students are encouraged to embark on unique short-term academic immersions through international summer programmes offered by NUS’ partner universities. These summer programmes allow students to explore non-traditional destinations such as East Asia, Europe and Latin America. Such experiences cultivate a deeper appreciation of the culture and lifestyle of the host country.

Aarhus Summer University (Denmark) AU Summer University takes place at Aarhus University throughout July and August. The programme consists of a portfolio of courses taught in English at Bachelor, Master and PhD level within the fields of Humanities, Theology, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Business and Educational Sciences. |

Czech Republic (Prague): East and Central European Studies Summer Programme *NEW The East and Central European Studies (ECES) Summer Programme is organized annually by Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. It is ideal for those who would like to earn up to 12 U.S. credits in a short period of time (four weeks). Located in the historic city of Prague, the program is designed for students who would like to spend their summer abroad experiencing a new culture and taking liberal arts courses in a range of academic fields. Nankai University Summer Sessions Since 1980, Nankai University has signed long-term cooperation and exchange agreements with more than 20 sister universities or institutes in American, Japan, Canada, Korea, Germany, Finland, and Australia. Every year Nankai organises short-term Chinese language training courses (4-8 weeks in summer or winter) for their students. To fulfill the request of both the schools and students, many subjects are introduced to short term programmes. Besides Chinese language, Chinese society, politics, economy, calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, Peking opera, and folk music are also on the teaching list. According to the agreements, the credit the students earn can be transferred back to their schools. With recent economic growth and China's success in WTO bid as well as the increasing number of foreign investments,a variety of related topics like Chinese economy, international trade and international commercial management have been introduced to these short term programmes. |

NUS-Wuhan University Summer Programme Jointly offered by NUS and Wuhan University from 20 May to 15 June 2013 (4-week), this programme is structured on an intensive basis that aims to provide a general understanding of China by focusing on topical aspects of both historical and contemporary China. Topics that will be discussed include Chinese cultural traditions, Chinese world order, the Chinese economy, environmental issues and legal system in contemporary China. Other highlights include cultural immersion programme such as Chinese language classes, Chinese painting, shadow boxing etc., field trip to Suzhou to study the preservation of the old city area and the emergence of the Suzhou Industrial Park; and excursions to Shanghai to study the transformation of modern Chinese. |

Summer Programme at LMU - "Approaching the European Union" The “Approaching the European Union” summer programme is conducted by the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) through their summer school arm, the Munich International Summer University (MISU). The programme is conducted in English, with a focus on the history, development and key features of the European Union as a political entity. The U21 Summer School provides opportunities for students from different disciplines to interact and share ideas on different topics. Each year, the summer school is built on a different theme, as decided by the host university.
