Czech Republic (Prague): East and Central European Studies Summer Programme
What is this programme about?
Established by a Czech and Roman king Charles IV in 1348, Charles University is one of the world's oldest universities. Charles University has 17 faculties and over 51,000 students who attend courses at various historical buildings in and around the capital city of Prague.
The East and Central European Studies (ECES) Summer Programme is organized annually by Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. It is ideal for those who would like to earn up to 12 U.S. credits in a short period of time (four weeks). Located in the historic city of Prague, the program is designed for students who would like to spend their summer abroad experiencing a new culture and taking liberal arts courses in a range of academic fields. In addition to their studies, students will have the opportunity to participate in faculty-led excursions, cultural events, and other activities.

What is the academic content?
Course offered by ECES Summer Programme are worth 3 US credits each. NUS students might enroll in up to 4 courses (12 credits). Upon programme completion, one official transcript will be sent to the students by priority mail.
Those interested in obtaining credit transfer must work with their faculty coordinators for credit mapping and complete the credit transfer application before embarking on the program. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.

What is the student accommodation?
ECES summer programme students stay in the Komenského dormitory near the Prague Castle, a ten-minute walk to the castle and a twenty-minute tram ride to the historic Old Town Square. The dormitory offers conveniences that any student would need to live and study abroad.
Single rooms are available on a first come-first served basis. Students are encouraged to apply for accommodation early. More information on the accommodation can be found here.
How much does it cost?
The programme tuition fee per student is 1,380 USD. A discount of 5% to 10% might be available depending on the total number of students from NUS enrolled in the program. The final amount of the program fee will be reflected in the program invoice which will be sent to the applicants by mid/late April.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Any Faculty
CAP of 3.0 and above
Must have completed at least one year of University study by the time program starts.
Students in graduate semester are not eligible.
Is a visa required?
Singaporeans holding a Singapore passport will not require a visa to participate in the programme. Students of other nationalities are to obtain a visa if needed.
Students are responsible for ensuring that they have proper entry documents for all countries they plan to visit as part of this programme!
