What is this programme about?

The Chinese University of Hong Kong’s International Summer School (ISS) provides an opportunity for students from around the globe to pursue an academically challenging and culturally stimulating summer experience in Hong Kong. These courses will be taught by outstanding academics from CUHK and prestigious overseas universities. All of these academics are excellent teachers and many of them are research frontrunners in their respective fields of study.

What is the academic content?

All academic courses offered at the International Summer School are conducted in English. Courses in business, engineering, humanities and social science will be offered, in addition to Putonghua and Cantonese. The maximum course load is 6 credits.

Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the programme is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.

All fees paid are non-refundable unless otherwise specified.  The caution money and hostel deposit will be refunded within one month after the programme ends if there is no outstanding payment.


Is financial assistance available?

Yes. Students can apply for the NASA Enhancement Bursary* (by Financial Need) or NASA Enhancement Scholarship (by Merit). More information here.


Number of placements available?

Up to the discretion of the partner University.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Students should not be in their graduating semester prior to participating in this programme.

CAP of 3.0 and above.


Is a visa required?

Yes. CUHK will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa.

Students are to consult the Embassy of China in Singapore to determine if a visa is required and to apply for an entry visa if needed.
