University of Adelaide Winter School
What is this programme about?
Winter School (held in June/July of each year) offers a range of courses that students can take alongside local and international University of Adelaide students.
Winter is a wonderful time to experience what Australia has to offer! In Winter School, students are offered a choice of three programs - the Independent Program, the Immersion Program and the Experience Program. This flexibility means that students can vary their experience based on their individual needs.
Independent Program
Suitable for students who are only seeking tuition from the University of Adelaide, and who are willing to arrange their accommodation and entertainment independently. This package includes admission and enrolment in one or two Summer or Winter School courses, a student concession card, and a final official transcript.
Immersion Program
Suitable for students who are seeking to experience the Australian lifestyle, through studying with local and international University of Adelaide students, and living with a local family. This package includes admission and enrolment in one or two Winter School courses, homestay accommodation with internet, meals and laundry, a student concession card, and a final official transcript.
Experience Program
Suitable for students who want a complete Australian experience. Students have a choice of homestay or apartment accommodation as part of their package, which also includes admission and enrolment in one or two Winter School courses, a range of Australian cultural activities, a student concession card and a fi nal offi cial transcript.

The University of Adelaide is one of Australia’s most respected and prestigious universities.
Adelaide is Australia’s fifth-largest city, with a population comparable to that of cities such as Amsterdam and Copenhagen. Adelaide has all of the advantages of a major city but few of the inconveniences. Its central location makes it an ideal gateway to explore South Australia’s many tourist attractions, from world-renowned wineries and rugged coastlines to the Australian Outback.
What is the academic content?
A wide range of courses available from the fields of Business, Economics, Humanities & Social Sciences, Science, Engineering, Entrepreneurship & Innovation. The full list of courses can be found here.
Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the programme is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.
What does it include?
Courses are offered in intensive mode - one three-unit course is the equivalent of one-quarter of a full semester study load. Assessment for courses can include written assignments, class presentations, online activities, tutorial presentations and participation, exams, and group/ individual projects.
(Credit transfer is subject to each individual faculty – please check with your faculty coordinator).
What is the student accommodation?
The University of Adelaide provides a range of quality on-campus accommodation for visiting Summer School students.
Information on various off-campus accommodations is available through the University's Accommodation Services.

Is Financial Aid Available?
Yes. Students can apply for the NASA Enhancement Bursary* (by Financial Need) or NASA Enhancement Scholarship (by Merit). More information here.

Yes. Students are to consult the Australian High Commission in Singapore to determine the visa application procedures required for their participation in the programme.
