Italy: American University of Rome (AUR) Summer Programme

What is this programme about?

Incorporated in Washington, DC in 1969, The American University of Rome (AUR) is a private and independent US university operating in Rome, Italy and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). With a student body of around 500, AUR offers small-sized classes with highly personalized teaching and learning experience, where scholars teach essential modern skills including language, communication and critical thinking. Study abroad programmes including summer programmes for international students offered by AUR have received recognition for academic credits from over 40 US Universities with whom AUR has a partnership.

Among popular courses offered by AUR are those in Film and Digital Media, international Relations, Business Studies, Archeology and Classics, Art History and Italian studies. The American University of Rome Summer Programme offers an opportunity which combines stimulating and challenging academics with unforgettable social and cultural experiences both on campus and in the enchanting city of Rome.

What is the academic content?

AUR Summer Programme Courses Selection

Course offered by AUR Summer Programme are worth 3 US credits each. NUS students might enroll in up to 2 courses (6 credits). Upon programme completion, one official transcript will be sent to the students by mail.

Those interested in obtaining credit transfer must work with their faculty coordinators for credit mapping and submit the credit transfer application form to their faculty before embarking on the programme. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.


What does the programme include?

The course fee of 2,300 Euros and the housing fee of 850 Euros include:

 
  • 2 Courses (6 US credits)
  • Airport assistance and transport to student residence
  • 24-hour telephone emergency assistance provided by the AUR staff
  • Academic and student life orientation
  • Neighborhood and city center tour by Resident Graduates
  • Housing  (shared rooms in a 6 bed apartment)
  • On-site classes as per course syllabi
  • Campus social events
  • University student ID card with access to university facilities and local discounts
  • Access to university computer labs and library
  • One official transcript sent by priority mail

 

What is the student accommodation?

Students attending AUR  summer programme stay in fully furnished apartments  within 20-30 minutes by public transport from the university. All apartments have a full kitchen with cooking appliances, a washing machine, television, the internet connection and wi-fi.

Apartment is based on double occupancy (max 3 rooms or 6 students per apartment) and has 2 bathrooms, a common area and kitchen and balcony. More information on the accommodation can be found here.


How much does it cost?

The programme tuition fee for NUS students is 2,300 Euros for 2 courses (a discount of 15% off the full fee of 2,700 Euros). Accommodation fee is at 850 Euros for the entire program.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Any Faculty
CAP of 3.0 and above
Must have completed at least one year of University study by the time programme starts.
Students in graduate semester are not eligible. 


Is a visa required?

Singaporeans holding a Singapore passport will not require a visa to participate in the programme. Students of other nationalities are to consult Embassy of Italy in Singapore to determine if a visa is required and to apply for an entry visa if needed.
