China & Indonesia: Internship Programme at Racer Technology


Who is the Internship host?

Racer Technology is one of the leading medical manufacturers in the world. With the corporate headquarter in Singapore & sales office in California, it also operates a total of three manufacturing faculties in China (Suzhou), Indonesia (Batam) & Malaysia (Senai).

Racer Technology was established in December 1988 and specialised in contract manufacturing high quality precision components device in plastic and metal, as well as prototyping and tooling. The group has about 2,000 staff regionally and 300,000 sq feet of manufacturing space with over 280 injections machines ranging from 30-550 tonnes.

Through systematic understanding of requirements and targeted feasibility experiments, Racer’s product design service makes devices development more predictable in scope, time and cost. The company’s disciplined approach to systems engineering, programmatic risk management and detailed design reduces development risk and minimises cost and time to market.

What is the internship about?

Location: Suzhou/ China

 
  • Major in Finance: Duration: 2 - 3 Months from May - July OR 6 Months from June - December
   
  • Handle partial set of account -responsible for Account Receivable & Account Payable.
  • Verify claims, payments, cheques issued to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Responsible for monthly AR reconciliation and AR ledgers and AR collection.
  • Vouching, matching and process payment of supplier invoices.
  •  Process payment in a timely and efficient manner, preparation of schedules and journal
  • Vouchers consistent to company policies and maintenance of accurate AP records.
  • HR and country Tax system.
  • To keep up to date accounts application forms and customer data and information.
  • Others duties assign by Accounts Manager.
 
  • Major in Mechanical Engineering: Duration: 2 - 3 Months from May - July
   
  • To product design, 1D and mechanical, Tooling design & Fabrication.
  • Assist co-ordination of project transfer from customer.
  • Assist in ensuring the proper establishment of manufacturing process documentation compliance to FDA, ISO 13485 & 14000.
  • To perform process, cycle time and window study for manufacturing process.
  • To perform training- leaders, operators for new product requirement.
  • Others duties assigned by Production Manager. 
  • Communicate with customers from overseas.


Location: Batam/ Indonesia

 
  • Major in Electrical Engineering: Duration: 2 - 3 Months from May - July
   
  • To plan of electronic works for new project and project team.
  • Maintain proper BOM, PCB & PCBA.
  • Assist co-ordination of project transfer from overseas facilities.
  • Assist in ensuring the proper establishment of Secondary process documentation compliance.
  • To perform to train leaders, operators for new product requirement.
  • Others duties assigned by Production Manager. 
  • Communicate with customers from overseas.

 

What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • Students in 2nd or 3rd year
  • Desire to work in ambitious SME with wide work exposure
  • Ability to deal with challenges in emerging markets
  • Mandarin speaking required (for Suzhou/ China positions)

What does the company provide?

 
  • 2 - 3 Months Internship:
   
  • Students receive a monthly allowance of SGD 500.
  • Company provides housing
  • Company provides airport pick-up/ drop and all work-related travels.
 
  • 6 Months Internship:
   
  • Students receive a monthly allowance of SGD 600-800
  • Provide Air ticket (Economy)
  • Company provides housing
  • Company provides airport pick-up/ drop and all work-related travels.

 

What is the student accommodation?

The students will stay in a shared apartment with other company employees (single room).

Is financial assistance available?

Participants are also eligible to apply for the NASA Enhancement Bursary or Scholarship.


Is a visa required?

Yes. NUS and Racer Technology will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa. Students are to consult the Embassy of PRC and Indonesia in Singapore to determine the specifics of the visa application procedures.
