Italy: NUS - LearningApp International Internship Programme


What is this programme about?

Established in 1999 in the province of Padova, Italy, LearningApp S.R.L is an Italian company that offers a new approach to learning: mobile learning. With a mission of linking training with work, LearningApp developed learning software that can be downloaded to smart phones and tablets and operate on those mobile platforms to provide learners with learning material including text blocks, images, pictures, videos and assessment texts. LearningApp offers companies and business an innovative and cost-saving method of training their employees and staff, e.g. training via mobile devices.

LearningApp Corporate Video

LearningApp is interested in introducing its product to China and other parts of Asia and hence looking for a NUS undergraduate student to facilitate its entry into Asian markets. The intern will have the opportunity to work alongside the founder of the company for 10 weeks. Internship duties will include the following:

 
  • Working with General Manager to assess the suitability of the LearningApp for Asian markets
  • Cooperate with technical and commercial staff to structure the product in a fashion that attracts Asian customers
  • Conduct research on competing products available in Asian markets
  • Provide insights into the characteristics and trends of Asian markets

What is the internship content?

Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the internship is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. A list of SEP faculty coordinators and administrators can be found here. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.

Is financial assistance available?

A monthly stipend of 250 Euro will be provided. Intern can apply for the NASA Enhancement Awards through IRO.

What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • Students from Business, Communication and New Media and related majors
  • CAP of 3.0 or above
  • Students in year 1, 2 and 3. Intern’s final semester has to be spent at NUS
  • Strong interest in mobile applications
  • Sound knowledge of characteristics and trends of Asian markets
  • English and Mandarin speaking


Is visa required?

Students are to consult Embassy of Italy in Singapore to determine if a visa is required and to apply for an entry visa if needed.
