India: Internship Programme at European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS)


What is this programme about?

European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. Comprising Airbus, Eurocopter, Astrium and Cassidian, EADS generated revenues of € 37.3 billion (as at 8 Nov 2012) and employed a workforce of some 133,000 in more than 170 sites worldwide.

Since 2009 EADS Innovation Works Singapore has supported NUS undergraduate students on an internship at one of EADS Innovation Works sites around the world. The goal is to develop young talent for aerospace industry. NUS students have participated in internships to the United Kingdom (2009), Singapore (2010), and France and Germany (2011).

The EADS – NUS Internship Programme in Bangalore, India provides interns with an opportunity to work on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or Photogrammetry (image processing) projects.


When does the programme take place?

May to July semester break for 12 weeks.


Where does the programme take place?

Bangalore, India.


What is the internship content?

Internship in UAV Project: Intern will be working on UAV, in particular, 3D reconstruction from video. The intern must be from Computer Engineering.

Internship in Photogrammetry Project: Intern will be working on Photogrammetry (image processing). The intern must be from Computer Engineering or School of Computing.

Academic credit MAY be available. Students interested in obtaining credit must consult their faculties about the procedures and requirements for credit mapping before embarking on the internships. Academic credit is at the sole discretion of the faculty. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the behalf of students.


What is the student accommodation?

Students will be housed in shared apartment.


How much does the programme cost?

There is no programme fee involved. However, participants need to pay for their own living expenses. EADS will provide accommodation, transport and a monthly stipend for participants.

Is financial assistance available?

EADS will provide accommodation, transport and a monthly stipend for participants.

How many placements are available?

1 in UAV and 1 in photogrammetry.


Is a visa required?

Yes. NUS and EADS will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa. Students are to consult the High Commission of India in Singapore to determine the specifics of the visa application procedures.

What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • For the position in UAV, students must be from Computer Engineering
  • For the position in photogrammetry, student must be from Computer Engineering or School of Computing
  • Students must be in 2nd/3rd year of study
  • Students must NOT be in their graduating semester
  • Previous working experience a plus
