NUS-The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) Internship Program


What is this program about?

Founded in 1999, the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization with headquarters in Berlin, Germany. The ICD´s ultimate goal is to promote global peace and stability by strengthening and supporting intercultural relations at all levels. Over the past decade the ICD has grown to become one of Europe’s largest independent cultural exchange organizations, hosting programs that facilitate interaction among individuals of all cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds, from across the world.

NUS – ICD Berlin Internship Program allows NUS undergraduate students the opportunities to work as an intern at the ICD as part of the ICD Internship Project. The Voluntary Internship Opportunities at the ICD are full time, unpaid and last 3 months.

Students who are major in Communication and Media, Business, Marketing, and Economics will be the most suitable for the internship.


When does the program take place and for how long?

Summer option: 20 May - 8 August (12 weeks)
Semester option: 12 August - 12 November (3 months)

Students are responsible for obtaining Leave of Absence from NUS if they are selected for the semester internship.

What is the program content?

Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the internship is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping and complete the credit transfer application before embarking on the program. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.


What is the student accommodation?

It’s the responsibility of the interns to secure housing prior to arriving in Berlin. The ICD internship coordinator will provide information to enable interns to secure accommodation for their internship duration.

Please note, these are estimated expenses and actual expenses may differ based on the attachment length, price shifts and personal spending habits!


Is financial assistance available?

No financial support from the ICD is available. Students can apply for the NASA Enhancement Awards through IRO.


How many placements are available?

03 placements for summer internship
02 placements for Semester 1 internship


What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • Students from Communication and Media, Business, Marketing, and Economics
  • Students must have completed at least one year of study by start of internship
  • Students in graduate semester are not eligible
  • Singapore and Malaysia passport holders are eligible.
  • Students of other nationalities who are able to travel to and stay in Germany up to 3 months without a visa, are also eligible to apply.
  • CAP of 3.0 or above

 

Is a visa required?

No. The ICD is unable to assist interns in obtaining their visas. This internship program is only open to Singapore and Malaysia passport holders and other nationalities who are allowed to travel to and stay in Germany up to 3 months without a visa. 

Students are responsible for ensuring that they have proper entry documents for all countries they plan to visit as part of this program!
