Italy: NUS - GeoPron S.R.L International Internship Programme

What is this programme about?

Established in 2008 in province of Padova, Italy, GeoPron S.r.l is an Italian company with offices in Italy, Argentina and the Ivory Coast. Being a commodity trading company, GeoPron trades vegetable oils for chemical and energy usage, and vegetable oil derivatives and by-products used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

GeoPron Corporate Profile

GeoPron is interested in expanding its trading activities to Asian markets and hence looking for a NUS undergraduate student to facilitate its entry into Asian markets. The intern will have the opportunity to intern at GeoPron in province of Padova, Italy for 3 months. Internship duties will include the following:

Conduct Internet-based research on potential producers, refineries, and buyers of vegetable oil products in Asia, especially Malaysia, Indonesia and China Initiate contacts with identified potential producers, refineries, and buyers Communicate with the producers, refineries, and buyers to request for company’s profiles, price quotes, and other product-related information Arrange for purchase , shipping of products and payment for clients in Asian markets if needs be

What is the internship content?

Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the internship is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. A list of SEP faculty coordinators and administrators can be found here. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.

How much does the programme cost?

Below are estimated living expenses for a 3-month internship in Padova, Italy.

Insurance	S$70/month
Local Transportation	S$35/month
Accommodation	S$ 400/month (Homestay might be available)
Meals	S$300/month
Personal Spending (entertainment, dining)	S$300/month
Estimated expenses for a 3 month internship including airfare	S$5,000

Please note, these are estimated expenses and actual expenses may differ based on price shifts, spending habits and personal travels.  

Is financial assistance available?

A monthly stipend of 200 Euro will be provided. Homestay might be available. Intern can apply for the NASA Enhancement Awards through IRO.

What are the eligibility requirements?

Any Faculty
CAP of 3.0 or above
Students in year 1, 2 and 3. Intern’s final semester has to be spent at NUS
Knowledge of vegetable oils trading industry in China, Indonesia and Malaysia is an asset.
Knowledge of Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.  

Is visa required?

Students are to consult Embassy of Italy in Singapore to determine if a visa is required and to apply for an entry visa if needed.
