Where does the programme take place?
Geneva, Switzerland.
With its 23 international organizations, 250 NGOs and 169 permanent missions, Geneva is considered the capital of multilateral diplomacy. Despite its relatively small size compared to other European cities, Geneva offers an infrastructure comparable to that of any great metropolis. Geneva is an international capital and Switzerland’s second-largest city and hosts scores of international organizations including the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), the World Trade Organization, the International Labor Organization (ILO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Together with New York City, Geneva is one of the largest centers of negotiation and international cooperation in the world.
What is the internship content?
Multi-disciplinary across all faculties
Academic credit MAY be available. Credit for the internship is strictly at the student’s discretion. Students interested in obtaining credit must work with their faculty for credit mapping. IRO does not apply for credit transfer on the students’ behalf.
Internships are available at International Organizations (IOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOS) or Permanent Missions and Embassies in the following areas:

Interns will be working under supervision of a faculty member from UNIGE during the course of their internship.
GISP students might envisage the internship program as a prolongation of GISP. Being already in Geneva and available for interviews with potential host organizations will be an advantage. UNIGE-Geneva International Students’ Program (GISP) is a 3-month program uniquely designed for international students. More information about GISP can be found here.
What is the student accommodation?
Interns will be offered accommodation in one of student residences or any residence linked with the University of Geneva.
