Indonesia: Internship Programme with DHL Indonesia


Who is the Internship host?

DHL is Part of the world's leading logistics group, Deutsche Post DHL. In addition to postal and freight services, DHL also designs and implements customised supply chain solutions for corporate customers in more than 50 countries, including Indonesia. How many placements are available?

1 placement in Operational Excellence for project on process improvement analysis

1 placement in Domestic Distribution for project on database development and analysis


What is the internship about?

Location: Jakarta

Duration: 3 months/ May - July

 
  • Process improvement analysis internship
    -
    Support process improvement initiative (in terms of analysis) for on-going project
    - Identify areas for improvement in DHL operations
    - Data collection and analysis
    - Support workshop facilitation
    - Support performance and savings monitoring
  • Database development and analysis internship
    -
    Construct a database of consumer geographical location (digital map) and link to master database
    - Creation of digital map with several layers, e.g. postal code, geographical boundaries, type of customer, accessibility constraints, window time restriction, etc
    - Link the new and master databases using unique identifiers, and to analyse the data when the interlinking structure has been established

 

What are the eligibility requirements?

 
  • Students in 2nd or 3rd year (3rd year preferred)
  • Proactive, meticulous, good communication skills
  • Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage
  • For process improvement analysis internship:
    - Understanding of statistics
    - Advanced skills in using MS Excel software
    - Suitable majors – Business (supply chain management), Industrial & Systems Engineering
  • For database development internship:
    - Understanding of database development and analysis
    - Understanding of digital mapping development and GIS concepts
    - Suitable majors – IT/Computing, Computer Engineering

 

What does the company provide?

 
  • Students receive an allowance of about SGD 300/ month
  • Company provides assistance in finding housing

 

What is the student accommodation?

Housing options include Guesthouse and hotels in vicinity of Company office.

Is financial assistance available?

Is a visa required?

Yes. NUS and the company will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa. Students are to consult the Embassy of Indonesia in Singapore to determine the specifics of the visa application procedures.

Students are responsible for ensuring that they have proper entry documents for all countries they plan to visit as part of this programme!
