India: Internship Programme at Air India SATS Airport Services Pte Ltd (AISATS)
What is this programme about?
Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) is a 50:50 joint venture between NACIL (currently known as Air India Limited) and Singapore Airport Terminal Services (currently known as SATS Ltd). Incorporated on 20 April 2010 in Delhi, India, AISATS provides ground and cargo handling services at 5 airports in India. It serves a total of 40 carriers in these hubs, including Air India, Emirates, FedEx, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways. AISATS handled close to 65,600 flights in FY11/12.
In 2012, AISATS Bangalore Cargo was voted Air Cargo Terminal Operator of the Year in India at the Indian Supply Chain and Logistics Summit and Excellence Awards.
The AISATS – NUS Internship Programme in Bangalore and Mumbai, India provides interns with an opportunity to work with AISATS senior management on marketing, procurement or operations management. Interns will also be involved in decision-making during the course of internship.
When does the programme take place?
May to July semester break for 8 - 12 weeks.
Where does the programme take place?
The marketing intern will be based in Mumbai, India, while the procurement intern and operations management intern will be based in Bangalore, India.
What is the internship content?
Internship in Marketing (Branding), Mumbai: Intern will be working closely with the Senior Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Affairs to brand AISATS.
Internship in Procurement, Bangalore: Intern will be tasked to work out a procurement manual for AISATS.
Internship in Operations Management, Bangalore: Intern will be assigned to either the Cargo or Ground Handling Department. Intern in the Cargo department will mainly be involved in logistics support, while the Ground Handling intern will be involved in baggage and passenger management.
What is the student accommodation?
Students will be housed in shared apartment with private bedrooms.
How much does the programme cost?
There is no programme fee involved. However, participants need to pay for their own living expenses. AISATS will provide accommodation, a monthly stipend, and transport for participants.

Is a visa required?
Yes. NUS and AISATS will assist in providing documentation needed to apply for a visa. Students are to consult the High Commission of India in Singapore to determine the specifics of the visa application procedures.
