
Enrich your vacation with the Chinese University Hong Kong International Summer School!
Programme Dates:30 June to 3 August 2009 (5 weeks)
The CUHK summer school provides an exciting opportunity for students from around the globe to pursue an academically challenging and culturally stimulating summer experience in Hong Kong.
This summer, in addition to Chinese Language (both Putonghua and Cantonese) courses, a number of business, humanities and social science courses that focus on Asian or Chinese perspective will be offered.
Courses will be conducted by prominent academics from CUHK and renowned overseas universities. The programme will comprise of both CUHK students and international students, hence international students can immerse themselves in a multicultural environment.

Module Selection: If you are selected by NUS as an exchange student, you can choose a maximum of two courses, subject to one language course only.
Modular Credits: Each of the modules carries 3 credits which are transferable, subject to your faculty’s approval on your proposed study plan.
Social-Cultural Programme: Besides attending classes, an array of cultural activities will enable students to discover Chinese and Hong Kong culture. Visits to cultural, tourist and historical sites will be arranged, e.g. Big Buddha, Victoria Peak etc.
China Tour (Optional): You can participate in a four-day tour to Beijing from 5-8 August 2009. Participants will be able to visit the major local attractions such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
Accommodation: Students will be housed on-campus in double or triple occupancy rooms with shared bathroom facilities. Light cooking facilities and communal facilities like laundry, study room, music room, gymnastic room and multi-purpose room, etc. are also available. The hostel fee for the period from 28 June to 5 August 2009 is US$400 (including air-conditioning and simple bedding).
Students who choose to stay off-campus have to inform CUHK before the start of the programme and provide a letter stating the address they will be staying at.
Fees: Students nominated by NUS as an “Exchange Students” are not required to pay for the tuition fee. Please check out for the administrative fee and the required deposits here.
Application: Please complete the application form and submit to your faculty’s SEP administrator. The application deadline may vary from faculty to faculty. Please refer to the table below for the application deadline.

Students nominated by their faculty will be participating in the programme under the status of an “Exchange Student”. Please approach you faculty to endorse on the Exchange Application Record form and proceed to register online with CUHK as an exchange student by 30 April 2009.
Alternatively, students can also proceed to apply directly with CUHK as a fee-paying student by 30 April 2009. Please note that admission to the programme is based on first-come-first-serve basis.

1. Who is eligible to apply for this summer programme?
All full time NUS undergraduates are eligible to apply for the Programme regardless of nationality. Priority will be given to non Chinese nationals.
2. Am I eligible to apply if I am a Year 1 or Year 4 student?
The Programme is open to all full-time NUS undergraduates. Please seek your faculty's advice if you are in your graduating semester.
3. Can I apply for another Student Exchange Programme (SEP) if I am selected for summer programme?
Please approach your faculty SEP administrators for advice.
4. Are there any loan schemes available for the programme?
Yes. You can apply for the Overseas Student Programme (OSP) Loan.
5. What am I expected to deliver at the end of the programme?
You are required to submit a 1-2 page report reflecting your experiences and share with us your photos (scenic picture of Hong Kong or pictures taken with your peers) in JPEG format within 2 weeks upon your return. Please email Ms Zann Lum at irolym@nus.edu.sg.
