Round 2 Application

Round 2 application for the NASA (Exchange Awards) has been extended till 18 July 2008 12.00pm. Eligible students are advised to submit their applications through respective Faculty SEP Administrator for uploading. For eligibility criteria, please refer below. Click here for the application form.

Students who have applied through OPAS are not require to re-submit any application again.

If you are going for Semester 1 exchange and you have not receive any news from us, it means that your application is still being processed. You should hear from us soon.

For students going for exchange in AY0809 Semester 2, your NASA application will only be processed after you have been accepted by the Partner University. You will be notified via email about the award status between Oct 2008 and Jan 2009 (depending on the SEP destination).

Award Letter & Payment Details for AY0809 Application

SEM1 AY0809 - award letter and cheque are ready for collection now. Please take note of the following times and dates for collection.

Date/Time     :   24 July 2008, 9am to 6pm*
                          25 July 2008, 9am to 5:30pm*
                          28 – 31 July 2008, 9am to 6 pm*

*Do avoid coming between 1pm and 2 pm on all the stated dates

Students are required to collect the award letter and cheque personally at International Relations Office (Blk E3A Level 1).

 

A total of 810 NUS Awards for Study Abroad (Exchange Awards) [also known as NASA (Exchange Awards)] with award value range from $500 to $4500 depend on destination will help finance your semester or year overseas at one of the world’s premier institutions under the NUS Student Exchange Programme (SEP) promoted by the International Relations Office (IRO).

The knowledge and experiences you acquire on your exchange will be valuable not only for your personal development but also for your future employment. With more than 1,000 placements being arranged for NUS students yearly, IRO is dedicated to “Unleashing Minds, Transforming Lives” through international exchange.

Eligibility Criteria

NUS undergraduates who fulfill the following requirements are eligible to apply for the award:

  • An approved SEP place in a partner university for the coming AY2008/09. (Those who SEP has been approved by their home faculty and are awaiting a reply from the partner university can also apply.)
  • CAP of 3.5 and above (Students who do not have CAP, E.G. LAW students, are eligible to apply)
  • Students who embark for 1 semester to:
    • US, Europe and Australasia partner universities and have received other awards total up to S$8000 are NOT eligible to apply.
    • Asia and Eastern Europe partner universities and have received other awards total up to S$4000 are NOT eligible to apply
  • Students who embark for 2 semesters or 1 year to:
    • US, Europe and Australasia partner universities and have received other awards total up to S$10,000 are NOT eligible to apply.
    • Asia and Eastern Europe partner universities and have received other awards total up to S$5000 are NOT eligible to apply.

Conditions for Successful Award

  • Applicants will be called to attend an interview with IRO when necessary.
  • Applicants are entitled to only ONE (1) Award per academic year.
  • Applicants must prove that they need financial support for the SEP overseas.
  • Successful recipients of the award may not hold any other financial award for SEP concurrently without approval from IRO.
  • The financial assistance received by successful recipients in aggregate must not exceed the sum they need for participating in SEP in the respective country. IRO reserves the right to withdraw the award in such cases.
  • In the event that successful recipients are unable or fail to go on the SEP, they must write to IRO with a full explanation. IRO reserves the right to withdraw the award in such cases and impose administrative fee.
  • The award does not carry a bond. However, all award recipients are expected to be NUS ambassadors to the best of their ability.
  • Awardees must complete the SEP questionnaire and submit SEP report upon his/her return from SEP.

Application

You are only able to apply for the NASA (Exchange Awards) once you accept an SEP offer through Overseas Programmes Application System (OPAS). A question will be prompt for you whether you would like to apply for the award. You are required to upload your family income documents.
