  1. When can I apply for NASA (Exchange Awards)?
    NASA (Exchange Awards) application opens only when you accept a SEP offer through Overseas Programmes Application System (OPAS).

  2. Can I apply for this award if I’m a first year student?
    You can apply for the NASA (Exchange Awards) as long as you have an approved SEP place at our partner universities.

  3. Must I be a SEP student in order to apply for this award?
    Yes, you must be a SEP student in order to apply for this award.

  4. Are any scholarship holders eligible to apply?
    Yes. However, if you are a successful recipient and also a holder of other scholarships/awards, the amount awarded will be adjusted accordingly, subjected to approval by IRO. You cannot hold any other financial award for SEP concurrently without approval from IRO.

    In addition, the financial assistance received by successful recipient in aggregate must not exceed the sum he/she needs for participating in SEP in the respective country. IRO reserves the right to withdraw the award in such cases.
  1. I am an NUS scholarship holder. Can I still apply for the NASA (Exchange Awards)?
    Yes, you can still apply. However, you have to declare the type of scholarship and the scholarship value.

  2. I have received S$4,000 from NUS-UBC Lee Foundation Student Exchange Awards. Can I still apply for the NASA (Exchange Awards)?
    No, you can not.

  3. I am a recipient of DUO-Singapore Exchange Fellowship award. Can I still apply for NASA (Exchange Awards)?
    No, you can not.

  4. Are there any documents needed to substantiate the award application form?
    Yes. You need to submit your family (this includes all working individuals) income tax statement from a year before. If you are not Singaporean/Singapore Permanent Resident, you need to submit proof of income of your family members.

  5. How do you determine “household income”? My father earns S$1,500 and my brother earns S$4,000. However, my brother does not contribute to the family.
    Household income includes all working individuals in your nucleus family. Even though your brother does not contribute to the family, his income will still be counted as household income, unless your brother is married and has a family on his own.

  6. Can I still apply if my CAP is below 3.5?
    Yes, you may. However, do inform us if your CAP improves to at least 3.5 within the same academic year. We will then reconsider your application. If there is no notice from you, it will be taken that you are no longer interested in the award.

  7. When will the results be released?
    Result of the award will be released in July (for students going on SEP in Semester 1) and December (for students going on SEP in Semester 2).

  8. Will I be notified whether my application is successful or unsuccessful?
    Yes. You will be notified via email whether your application is successful or unsuccessful.

  9. Does the amount cover a semester or a full year?
    The length of your SEP duration does not affect the amount of the award.

  10. When will I receive my award?
    The award will be disbursed to you in July (for students going on SEP in Semester 1) and December (for students going on SEP in Semester 2).

  11. Is there any other form of financial assistance if I get rejected from this award?

    Yes, it does.
