ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum

The ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum is an annual event organised under the auspices of the ASEAN University Network (AUN). Aimed primarily at enhancing and strengthening mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation among ASEAN youths, the Forum provides a platform for students from AUN member universities to showcase their cultures and traditions through music, song and dance. This is a unique opportunity for youths in the region, not only to gain a better appreciation of their cultural heritage and that of others, but also provide a means of promoting stronger cross-border interactions and ties.

AUN Educational Forum and Young Speakers' Contest

The AUN Educational Forum and Young Speakers’ Contest is an annual one-week work camp that aims to foster the ASEAN spirit through academic and non-academic activities. Hosted by a different member university and with a different theme annually, participants attend, engage and participate in such activities as round-table discussions, speakers’ contests, educational tours, cultural programmes and specially-arranged lectures.

IARU Global Internship Program @ NUS (For students from IARU universities)

The IARU Global Internship Program aims to provide IARU students with the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience by conducting high-impact research and projects in another member university. Such internships enable students to gain real insights into their host university and provide an exciting platform to build cross-cultural understanding.

NUS is pleased to offer six internship positions in administrative offices and research laboratories for students from IARU member universities (excluding NUS). The internships will take place from 21 May – 13 July 2012 (except for the internship with International Relations Office: 4 June to 27 July 2012).

IARU Global Internship Program @ Yale University (For NUS students)

The IARU Global Internship Program aims to provide IARU students with the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience by conducting high-impact research and projects in another member university. Such internships enable students to gain real insights into their host university and provide an exciting platform to build cross-cultural understanding.

Yale University is offering internship positions at the Office of International Student and Scholars (OISS) and International Training Center for Global Infectious Diseases Research (ITC-GIDR).  The internships will take place from 4 June – 10 August 2012 and 4 June – 30 July 2012 respectively.

IARU Global Summer Program

The IARU Global Summer Program (GSP) provides opportunities for students from IARU universities to take part in intensive short courses with outstanding peers from around the globe.  Participants are challenged to address critical issues in a global perspective. This is done in a variety of ways:

 
  • Taking a multidisciplinary approach to the subject of study
  • Focusing on major challenges in the 21st century
  • Exposing students to fields outside their core disciplines of study
  • Challenging participants to move beyond a fixed national perspective via intensive interaction with participants from diverse national and cultural backgrounds

IARU Graduate Student Conference (GSC)

The IARU Graduate Student Conference is a 2.5-day conference which aims to provide a platform for graduate students (preferably PhD students) from IARU universities to exchange ideas and explore collaborations for integrative research on global issues. The theme for the inaugural Conference is Ageing. Participants will have the opportunity to attend lectures by prominent researcher, put up posters and tour NUS research facilities.

Each IARU university will send two students for the GSC. Applications should be sent to the students’ home university. Nominated participants should send completed applications to NUS by Friday 16 March 2012.

Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking
(TF LEaRN) Programme 2012 @ NUS

The Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking @ National University of Singapore (TF LEaRN @ NUS) is funded by the Temasek Foundation to promote student exchanges between NUS and partner universities in ASEAN, India, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The programme is open to NUS undergraduates who are Singapore Citizens to spend a semester at partner universities in ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, India, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as undergraduates from partner universities in in ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, India, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to spend a semester at NUS.

U21 Graduate Research Conference

The U21 Graduate Research Conference aims to provide participants with an opportunity to develop a range of skills relevant to the research process. Delegates give talks, present posters, and produce short articles which are reviewed by other participants.  These experiences develop their communication skills and give them an idea of the peer review process.  Guest speakers are also invited to contribute to the discussions.

U21 Summer School 2012

The U21 Summer School provides opportunities for students from different disciplines to interact and share ideas on different topics. Each year, the summer school is built on a different theme, as decided by the host university. This thematic approach introduces participants to topics of importance to the host university and allows the sharing of different perspectives by international and local students.

The U21 Summer School 2012 will take place from 7 to 18 July 2012, at Tecnólogico de Monterrey, Mexico. The theme of this year’s U21 Summer School focuses on shaping the global future entrepreneur.

U21 Undergraduate Research Conference

The U21 Undergraduate Research Conference allows students from around the globe to present their research to a diverse audience of peers, faculty, and mentors from the U21 member universities. Students from any discipline are welcome to join the conference for stimulating discussions and networking opportunities. Seminars and social activities are also included in the programme. At the end of the conference, students have the opportunity of publishing their research in the University of Virginia's undergraduate journal The Oculus.

The U21 Undergraduate Research Conference 2012 will take place from 1 to 6 July 2012, at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan. This year’s conference takes the theme ‘Connecting to the Future’.
