IARU Global Internship Program @ Yale University

The IARU Global Internship Program aims to provide IARU students with the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience by conducting high-impact research and projects in another member university. Such internships enable students to gain real insights into their host university and provide an exciting platform to build cross-cultural understanding.


1. Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) - Web Strategy Summer Intern

The summer intern will assist the Assistant Director for Technology Support at the OISS. Duties will primarily involve generating unique content (written material, photos, and video) for the OISS Web site and the OISS Facebook page.  Some experience with Web development preferred.  Position is full time (37.5 hours per week) tentatively taking place for 5 weeks from June 4 to August 10, 2012.

Position is full time (37.5 hours per week) taking place for 5 weeks from June 4 to August 10, 2012.  The duration and dates may be flexible.  Final arrangements to be made between the hosting office and the selected candidate.

Hourly wage of $US12.

Accommodation available in either one of the Yale Residential Colleges for $2,480 (5 weeks, including meals) or in Yale Graduate Housing ($150/week, no meals). 

Airfare and transportation to/from New Haven is candidate’s responsibility.

Personal expenses are the candidate’s responsibility.

2. International Training Center for Global Infectious Diseases Research (ITC-GIDR)

Interns will work with faculty mentors in their labs on topics related to infectious diseases.  Interns will participate in curriculum of weekly seminars/meetings, and the end of summer symposium.

The mission of Yale's International Training Center for Global Infectious Diseases Research (ITC-GIDR) is to cultivate a global network of scientific leaders dedicated to the discovery of cures for infectious diseases of public health significance. Central to the ITC-GIDR mission is the training of young scientists in the latest laboratory and field-based methodologies, with a goal of inspiring the next generation investigators committed to global infectious diseases research. The cornerstone training component of the ITC-GIDR is an intensive 8 week summer program (June-July) held at Yale each summer. Students (undergraduate, graduate) and post-doctoral trainees from each of the 4 ITC-GIDR partner institutions (University of Ghana, University of Sao Paolo, King Saud University, Yale University) are placed in Yale laboratories, where they are provided with a mentored research experience under the supervision of faculty experts in infectious diseases. IARU interns will be incorporated into this program based on their experience and qualifications.

Candidates must be able to provide proof of sufficient funding from their home institution or another source to support them during their entire stay in the U.S.
