Half day overland and water tour of the Lion City - Singapore, widely known as a dynamic and vibrant city, rich in contrast and colour, is where many visitors will  find a harmonious blend of culture, cuisine, arts and architecture. Besides its reputation as a leading financial, business and research hub, Singapore is also renowned for being a melting pot of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Eurasian heritage. To give participants a unique glimpse at the many facets of Singapore, a city tour which includes a journey from the historic seat of Malay royalty in Singapore, Kampong Glam, through to the Colonial district of Singapore, has been arranged.  An exciting boat ride through the waterways of Singapore will make sure participants get “soaked” with culture and immerse themselves in the rich flavours the city has to offer.

Night Safari – This is the world's first wildlife park built for visits at night.  Nestled in 40 hectares of lush secondary forest, the Night Safari offers guests the unique experience of exploring wildlife in a tropical jungle at night.  Through the use of subtle lighting technique, guests are able to view over 1,000 nocturnal animals of 100 species in vast naturalistic habitats.  In addition, there are animal shows and cultural performances at several times during the evening.

As one of the papers printed in 2004 by the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums states, “In the 21st century, it is important to develop the educational role of zoos so as to have an active and direct impact upon people’s attitudes and behaviour.  In this way, awareness will be converted into action that has positive benefits for wildlife, people and conservation.  The new conservation strategy identifies “education for sustainability” as a key ingredient in this approach.  In fact, it defines “conservation education” as a combination of “the principles of environmental education and education for sustainability.  Working together, zoos and aquariums have the potential to be extremely important agents of change in creating a sustainable future and ensuring the conservation of species and habitats on a global scale.”

NEWater (Sustainable Water Supply) - NEWater is treated used water that has undergone stringent purification and treatment process.  As water remains a scarce resource, there is a need to ensure its long-term sustainability through efficient water resource management.  Thus one of the ways is to leverage on rapid technological advances to develop new and sustainable sources of supply like NEWater to supplement our water supply.

By visiting the NEWater Visitor Centre, participants will be “edutained” by multimedia presentations and hands-on interactive games.  They will also have a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of water-related topics and especially on NEWater and its uses.
