FRONTIER HUMAN INTERFACE TECHNOLOGY FOR SPIN-OFF
Mixed Reality, a subset of Human Interface Technology, relates to a new form of gaming that anchors on physical, mobility, social interaction, and ubiquitous computing.
Designed by Dr. Adrian David Cheok and his team from NUS, the technology provides the full spectrum of game interaction experiences, ranging from the real physical environment to augmented reality in a virtual environment. It also allows seamless communication between the environments, such that tangible interactions can take place between players and virtual objects, and other collaborations between players in different levels of reality.
This technology was licensed from NUS by Brooklyn-media, a company formed in 2003 as an NUS spin-off. Brooklyn-media is a content and service provider for new and emerging media. The Mixed Reality technology has enabled the company to provide a greater range of business services to their clients in the various industry sectors.
ILO played a significant part in ensuring that
the licensing process to Brooklyn-media was successful. As ILO’s
mission is to promote the transfer of technology from NUS to industry
to benefit society, it negotiated the licensing terms and signed the
licensing agreement with Brooklyn-media on behalf of NUS.
