The Industry Liaison Office (ILO) was set
up in 1992 to handle technology transfer matters and to promote research collaboration
between NUS, industry and other parties.
Over the years, ILO has served as the gateway through which companies, research organisations and government agencies reach out and benefit from the knowledge,
expertise and technologies residing in the University.
Today, ILO forms one of seven units that form the NUS Enterprise cluster. It
protects NUS Intellectual Property, manages its commercial promotion, and continues
to encourage joint NUS-industry research.
In support of NUS' vision to become a global knowledge enterprise, NUS Enterprise
was set up to inject an enterprise dimension to NUS teaching and research involving
NUS students, staff and alumni. NUS Enterprise is chartered with the objectives
of providing entrepreneurship education and nurturing talents with a global mindset;
identifying, protecting and commercialising intellectual property; nurturing NUS
spin-offs and start-ups; fostering industrial collaboration; and facilitating
the dissemination of NUS knowledge to the external community.
The other units within NUS Enterprise are: NUS Overseas Colleges, NUS Entrepreneurship
Centre, NUS Venture Support, NUS Consulting, NUS Extension and NUS Publishing.
