The NUS Identity
Domain Name Policy
The rationale for drawing up guidelines for the assignment and use of domain names within NUS include:
- To ensure a degree of consistency in usage, in keeping with promoting and protecting the University's image
- To maximize opportunities for both the external and the internal community to identify a NUS domain or website easily and correctly
- To provide a basis for resolving any disputes that may arise
- To facilitate the management of the domain space within the University website.
The basic principle underlying the domain names policy guidelines is that the naming conventions adopted should reflect a coherent system and to some extent, NUS' organizational structure.
For the purposes of the NUS website, there are three categories of web addresses (or URLs)
- Standard NUS Web Addresses
- Custom NUS Web Addresses
- Non-NUS Web Addresses
