The NUS Global Asia Institute (GAI) System Dynamics Initiative

As a conceptual framework and methodology, System Dynamics integrates the best thinking of multiple disciplines and provides a mature yet evolving methodology for conceptualising and testing new theory.

NUS-GAI Core Group White Paper
29 October 2010
The System Dynamics Initiative was created in 2010 as part of NUS President Tan Chorh Chuan’s vision for NUS GAI as a centre for analysis of dynamic, systemic problems. These problems require a long-term, interdisciplinary approach, so system dynamics, comprised of systems thinking, analysis, and modelling, was chosen as a core methodology.

Under the chairmanship of Professor Lui Pao Chuen, the Initiative will catalyse research, teaching, community-building, and outreach to create and expand a network of people who use systems thinking, analysis, and modelling at the following levels:

  • NUS
  • Singapore
  • Asia
