IARU Presidents Meeting 2011
NUS is a member of eight global university networks that leverage on member universities'
diverse and distinctive strengths for excellence in education and research.
- International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU)
- Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU)
- ASEAN University Network (AUN)
- Universitas 21 (U21)
- Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) and Asia Pacific Leaders
(APL)
- Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL)
- Southeast Asia & Taiwan Universities (SATU)
- Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)
It plays an active role in some of these networks:
- Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, President of NUS, is the current IARU Chair. He serves
his second term from 2011 - 2013. NUS is also serving as the IARU Secretariat from
2009 – 2013.
- Professor Tan Chorh Chuan is a Steering Committee member of APRU and NUS has hosted
the APRU Secretariat in its campus since 2002.
- NUS sits on the Board of Trustees for the ASEAN University Network.
- NUS is a founding member of Universitas 21.
- NUS is a Director in the APAIE board.
NUS will continue its active participation in these global networks and develop
impactful programmes to establish its leadership role in education and research
in Asia.
