In 1905, a small group of visionaries petitioned Singapore’s colonial government for a medical school. The then Governor challenged them to raise $71,000. Led by Tan Jiak Kim and coming from all walks of life, our founding donors didn’t just meet the target. They surpassed it, raising $87,000.
The writing was already on the wall. They didn’t just want their school to be good, they wanted it to be great. Every dollar would make a difference.
Since then, the 23-student medical school has grown into a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary University with over 186,000 alumni. To this day, NUS continually aims to surpass itself in providing a rich educational experience and a thriving research environment in the service of society.
Help fuel the imagination, openness and courage that have made us Singapore’s global university. Be a part of the excellence. Give to NUS.
