General Knowledge (GK) modules cover the information, concepts, and leading ideas that we expect University educated individuals to be familiar with.

They focus on familiarity with the information and knowledge needed to function effectively in the modern world, and an appreciation of the leading ideas in our understanding of the physical, biological, mental, social and aesthetic spheres.

They also seek to illuminate the essential interconnectedness of knowledge within and outside a subject, and facilitate the critical and creative thinking abilities in the application of knowledge in diverse situations.

Needless to say, no package of modules, however comprehensive, will cover everything that we expect University educated individuals to be familiar with. Hence, the module offerings focus on the bare essentials, and aim at the process of triggering the acquisition of general knowledge through exposure to a few central areas.
