CPF Education Scheme
1. Who is eligible for CPF Education Scheme?
All full-time undergraduate students studying an approved
subsidized course that leads to a degree at any Institute of Higher
Learning in Singapore, including NUS, is eligible under the CPF
Education Scheme. More information on eligibility for CPF Education

Students who are paying full tuition fee (i.e. reject or not
eligible for tuition grant) are not eligible for CPF Education
Scheme.
2. How can I apply to use my parents’ CPF to pay
for my fees?
Application for use of parents’ CPF funds to pay for tuition fees
may be made through the CPF Board, either online or through use of
manual forms. More details on the use of parents’ CPF funds under
the CPF Education Scheme are available at
CPFB’s website.
3. Will I be informed about the outcome of my application to use my
parents’ CPF to pay for my fees?
CPF Board will inform its CPF members on the status of their
application to use their CPF funds to pay for their child’s tuition
fees under the CPF Education Scheme once the application has been
processed. CPF members may wish to check their periodic Statement
of Account from CPF Board on the deductions made under the CPF
Education Scheme. Alternatively, CPF members may access their CPF
account online using CPFB’s Online Services at
http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/Members/home.htm
to get the latest updates on deductions made in respect of the CPF
Education Scheme.
4. Is a guarantor required for my application of
CPF Education Scheme?
With effect from 1 April 2005, CPF Board has waived the need for
a guarantor in relation to the application to use CPF funds for
Education purpose. More information on the requirement for a
guarantor under the CPF Education Scheme is available
here.
5. I had applied to pay my fees with my parent’s CPF but to date, no
deduction has been made and my fees are still outstanding. What
should I do now? Would the late payment fee be also waived?
Upon receipt of the student’s application to use their parents’
CPF funds, CPF Board will process the application and inform the
member of the outcome, following which CPF Board will pay the
student’s tuition fees to NUS for cases where the application is
successful. In the event that CPF Board has yet to effect the
payment of tuition fees to NUS, student may wish to contact CPF
Board’s Hotline at 1800-227 1188 to enquire on the status of their
application. As with all late payment of fees, a charge for late
payment of fee will be levied. Students who wish to request for
waiver of late fees with valid reasons are requested to send in
their appeal to

6. I had applied to pay fees with my parent’s CPF but we have been
informed that there are insufficient funds. What should I do?
Students are strongly encouraged to ensure that their parents’
CPF have sufficient funds before applying under the CPF Education
Scheme for payment of tuition fees with their parents’ CPF funds.
In the event of insufficient funds after making application under
the CPF Education Scheme, students will need to raise the necessary
finance to pay the tuition fees payable. For students who need
further financial assistance, they may write in to the Office of
Financial Aid at
Financialaid@nus.edu.sg or call 6516 2870 to enquire on the
various financial aid schemes available to NUS students. More

7. How do I make repayment after I have graduated if I have used
CPF Education Scheme to pay for my tuition fees?
Repayment of the funds utilized under the CPF Education Scheme is
to be made through the CPF Board where students may make partial,
lumpsum or monthly instalment repayment. For more information on
repayment, students may wish to refer to
CPF Board’s website.
8. When is the deadline for application of CPF
Education Scheme?
The deadline for application to the CPF Board under the CPF
Education Scheme differs between the Academic Years. Latest
information on the deadline for application under the CPF Education
Scheme is available on CPF Board’s website at

9. Can I still apply for CPF Education Scheme if I
have missed the deadline?
Students are urged to comply with the deadline for application to
CPF Board under the CPF Education Scheme. As all applications for
use of CPF Funds under the CPF Education Scheme are to be submitted
to CPF Board for approval, any appeal for late submission under the
CPF Education Scheme is to be submitted to CPF Board for their
approval. Students may wish to contact CPF Board through its
Hotline at 1800-227 1188 prior to late submission of application.
