FAQ

Tuition Fees and Mandatory Miscellaneous Fees (MMFs)

1. When do I have to pay fees?

For Semester 1, fees are due by the end of second instructional week for those not paying through Interbank GIRO and late-September for those paying through Interbank GIRO. For Semester 2, fees are due by the end of second instructional week for those not paying through Interbank GIRO and February for those paying through Interbank GIRO. For Special Term Parts 1 and 2 (formerly known as Special Terms 3 and 4), fees are due in June and July respectively for both GIRO and non-GIRO students.  The exact fee payment due date is available at http://www.nus.edu.sg/finance/students/financialServices/notice/index.html.  Email reminders will also be sent to all students from time to time.
2. When do I get a bill?

With effect from AY2008/2009, all students in NUS will not receive hardcopy student bill. They will be informed via email notice sent to their NUS email account to view their Student Bill online at least 2 weeks prior to scheduled deadline for fee payment.
3. What items are included in my bill?

For undergraduate students, your bill includes Tuition Fee and Mandatory Miscellaneous fees. Registration Fee and Union entrance Fee (both one-time payment) will be charged upon admission. . More information on undergraduate fees payable may be found at http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/edu/UG/fees.html.

Graduate students are billed their course fees or research fees plus Mandatory Miscellaneous fees. Registration fee and Examination Fee (both one-time payment) for coursework are also charged upon admission. More information on postgraduate fees payable may be found at http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/edu/gd-fees.html.
4. When can NSmen start their studies in NUS?  Will they be required to pay the miscellaneous mandatory fees (MMFs) and how much will it be?

With effect from AY2007/08, NSmen who have completed their National Service (RNSmen) can join NUS during the special term which typically starts in May.  More information on the special term may be found at http://www.nus.edu.sg/registrar/calendar.html.

As with other full-time students, RNSmen are required to pay MMFs.  However in consideration of the shorter duration of the special term, except for Registration and Union Entrance fees which are one-off charges that RNSmen have to pay in full amount, they are required to pay only 50% of the other prevailing MMFs.
