Certificate in English Language (Pre-Intermediate)

The Pre-Intermediate course builds on the skills introduced in the elementary course.
It continues to build a strong foundation in grammar and usage and to extend the students' understanding of English and range of vocabulary.

This course is divided into three components:

Integrated Skills
This is the main component of the course and is intended to further consolidate the work on grammar and usage introduced at the elementary level. The focus is to develop reading, listening, speaking and writing skills to a level that will enable the student to use English more competently and confidently. Included in this component are exercises to develop accurate speech and pronunciation.

Literature and Reading Skills
Literature and Reading Comprehension texts will be used to develop reading and comprehension skills, and to nurture an interest in reading and an enjoyment of English Literature.

Oral Confidence
This is a very practical component of the course, intended to hone the listening and verbal skills of the students in a wide variety of social situations. Students will be given many opportunities to practise speaking clearly in English.
