Professional Certificate in Technology Commercialisation Development Programme (TCDP)

In today’s dynamic business environment, the ability to commercialise new technology rapidly coupled with a
well managed Commercialisation process is essential for sustaining competitive advantage.

A well-informed team and a well managed commercialisation process boosts corporate sustainability by converting innovation and knowledge into products,processes and services ready for the global marketplace.

Research has identified three areas of weaknesses (or gaps) in the commercialisation
process :

Capability Building - To build commercial skills, expertise and connectivity in order to enhance the capabilities of technology entrepreneurs to grow global technology businesses.

Access to Finance - To boost the expertise, experience and development of the technology finance sector in order to improve the availability of specialist financialservices and investment opportunities.

Technology Transfer - To improve linkages between and within industry sectors and research establishments to increase the transfer of technology with clear commercial outcomes.


Programme Outline

The Professional Certificate in Technology Commercialisation Development Programme
(TCDP) is developed to address the skill gaps identified above. The programme consists of a series of 5 training sessions conducted by leading world renowned experts. The
Professional Certificate is awarded upon completion of the 5 training sessions.

1 Technology Assessment and Patent Protection
- Technical Merit of the technology, Protectability, Commercialisation Potential, Patent Protection etc, Freedom to Operate.

2 Licensing and Negotiation of Technologies
- Anatomy of a License, negotiation

3. High-Tech Company Formation
- Spin out case studies, Portfolio Management, Raising Investment, Finding a CEO

4. Model for Technology Transfer Capability Building
- Skills and Competencies of Organisational Structure, IP Policy, COI Policy, Idea
Generation, TTO role, Costs and Timescale

5. Marketing and Commercialisation of Technologies
- Developing a Marketing Strategy, Sharing of Information / Material,
Implementation of strategy and follow up due diligence, Valuation of technologies
