INTRO Seminar Series

INTRO organised two seminars on August 20 and September 15 mainly to the Faculties of Engineering and Medicine respectively. Both seminars focused on the process of commercialising research results, what to expect and how to go about it.

The objective of embarking on an INTRO Seminar Series is to promote INTRO and its services, to keep the NUS staff communities informed about collaborations, patenting and licensing, and to explain INTRO’s role in promoting and facilitating collaborations, and in patenting and licensing.

The seminars were attended by about 70 - 100 NUS staff and students, who gave positive feedback on the content of the seminar. The seminar achieved its aim, as many mentioned that it made them aware that NUS indeed has a department catering to the needs of the researchers. Some said it gave them a good idea of INTRO’s services and created confidence in them that INTRO is always willing to assist them in various patenting, licensing and collaboration matters. Feedback was also positive towards the speakers from INTRO, and the guest speakers, whom the audience felt provided good examples of real-life experiences in working with INTRO and this gave the audience a better understanding of INTRO’s work and culture of quality customer service.

The INTRO Seminars are expected to create greater awareness of INTRO and its services within NUS. Staff and students will be better aware of who to call to find out more about patent, licensing and research collaboration matters, and be assured that INTRO staff will go that extra mile to assist them.
