NUS Enterprise supports individuals and organisations in their entrepreneurial pursuits through a range of activities and services. The NUS Entrepreneurship Centre promotes and inspires the entrepreneurial minds among the NUS community through supporting student groups and activities, such as the annual Start-Up@Singapore Business Plan Competition organised by the NUS Entrepreneurship Society, the Asian Youth Energy Summit organised by the Energy Carta, and the E27 group which organises local and regional ICT/IDM-related events with companies like Google and Facebook. Through its incubator ecosystem, NEC provides both the hard and soft infrastructure to nurture startups into viable companies, including provision of physical space, mentoring, match-making with venture capitalists/angel investors, startup funding schemes and IP advisory services. To help establish NUS as a thought-leader in entrepreneurship development, NEC also carries out research to advance the policy and practice of technology venturing in Singapore and the region.
NUS Enterprise reaches out to entrepreneurs and business executives by providing continuous learning programmes and courses. Through these activities, NUS Enterprise helps businesses strengthen their capabilities, in order to better adapt to the increasingly competitive global business environment.
Cutting across these three thrusts, NUS Enterprise has taken its entrepreneurship development efforts to a national level, being selected as the lead organisation in Global Entrepreneurship Week. Held for the first time from 17-23 November 2008, this event was the world’s largest single event to celebrate and promote innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity globally. NUS Enterprise partnered with the Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) to co-host this event, and led Singapore to connect with millions around the globe to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship
