NUS Points
-
Why does my point distribution for the Programme and General accounts differ with that of students from other faculties?
The distribution of points is based on each faculty’s curriculum structure. For example, if a faculty requires its students to fulfil a higher number of MCs for Programme requirements, there will be a higher point distribution in its students' Programme accounts.

-
My points records under 'NUS Point Management' do not seem right.

My appeal to change an allocated lecture class has been approved. However, I have to pay more than the lowest successful bid points for the new lecture class. Why is this so?
For appeals that involve changing a lecture class, the allocated module will be dropped with 50% refund. An additional 30 points, as an administrative charge, will also be deducted from your account. A further charge of the Average Successful Bid Points (Useful Info) of the new lecture class will be imposed.
For more information, please refer to the CORS Policies Appeal page.

QET
-
I am a new student. Bidding has commenced, but I still have not received notice whether I have passed the QET
and whether I am required to allocate part of my schedule to attend compulsory English support modules.
What should I do?
The Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) will endeavour to release the QET results before the commencement of bidding for faculty and ULR modules by new students.
However, in the unforeseen event that the results are not yet available, students should proceed to bid for their faculty and ULR modules on the understanding that priority be
given to CELC’s English support courses (Basic English Course and English for Academic Purposes Course) if students are required to take them in the current semester
when the QET results are subsequently released.
Action by students who are required to take CELC’s English support courses
(1) Students should choose suitable tutorial timeslots for the English support course allocated to them in the current semester
and immediately register for their tutorial group through CORS (except for students from Business School whose CELC tutorials are pre-allocated).
(2) If timetable clashes occur, students who are affected must take the required English support courses as determined by their respective QET results.
Students who are compelled to withdraw from already allocated modules in order to accommodate their English tutorials will have their points fully refunded.
They should then re-enter the next available bidding round immediately to secure alternatives for the withdrawn modules that do not clash.

File for Graduation
-
What is the 'File for Graduation' function used for?
This is a platform to indicate your intention to graduate after completing the current semester of study.
-
The 'File for Graduation' option is not available to me.
Please check whether:
- You have obtained the minimum MCs required in the previous semester, as indicated in the 'File for Graduation' page.
- Your faculty requires you to file for graduation during the registration period.
- Your faculty requires you to file for graduation in a separate system from CORS.

Declaration of Major/Minor
-
Why does the declaration page indicate "declaration is not required" or "declaration not to be done in this semester"?
Different degree programmes have different declaration requirements. For example, Science students can declare their majors and minors in CORS, while Arts and Social Sciences students declare prior to using CORS. Check with your home faculty/department for the declaration requirements applicable to you.
-
I cannot find certain majors or minors in the selection list.
Some majors and minors are only open to students who have been granted approval to enrol in them. Have you got the necessary approval?
If so, please check with your home faculty/department to see if they have updated your status.
-
I cannot change my declaration in CORS.
Declarations can only be done once per semester in CORS, and cannot be changed during bidding.
Faculties may place a restriction that majors/minors can only be changed within a certain number of semesters of study.
Please verify with your faculty/department if there are any such restrictions, and if so, whether you fall within the allowable range.
If you have submitted a wrong declaration:
- For major declarations, please contact your home faculty.
- For minor declarations, please contact your host faculty.

Modules
-
How many modules can I select for each bidding round?
From the start of Round 1 till the end of Round 2, a maximum workload policy of 23 MCs is in place for all students. This means that you can bid for modules up to 23 MCs.
From Round 3 onwards, you can bid for more modules up to the maximum workload as configured by your faculty. If you wish to exceed the maximum workload allowed, please seek approval from your faculty.

Lectures
-
Will students get to sample/evaluate lectures during the first week of classes?
Usually, students get to sample/evaluate the first lecture (first teaching week of each semester) for modules that are allocated to them after successful bidding.
The bidding rounds are extended such that students can drop a module after a sample/evaluation, and still have an opportunity to bid for another module from the pool of remaining vacancies.
When a public holiday falls during the first week of lectures, classes are usually postponed and students do not get to sample/evaluate the modules scheduled for that day*.
To work around this problem, during Semester 1, 2005-06, the bidding schedule was extended to accommodate National Day, thus squeezing the duration available for tutorial registration.
For Semester 2, 2005-06, 10 January 2006 in the first lecture week was a public holiday and opportunities for students to sample/evaluate lectures would have only been feasible if the duration allowed for tutorial registration was similarly squeezed. According to student feedback, more time was needed for tutorial registration to complete. As such, it was not feasible to delay tutorial registration as in Semester 1, 2005-06.
Students should note that for Semester 2, 2005-06 and subsequent semesters, it will not be possible to sample/evaluate lectures that coincide with public holidays; students will not be able to bid for other modules as replacements if they subsequently find the lectures unsuitable.
Action: For modules that are affected by public holiday postponement of classes, students should use the IVLE and other similar channels, or check with the teaching department to decide whether the modules will be suitable.
They should not bid for them if it is absolutely necessary to have a face-to-face opportunity to sample/evaluate before deciding.
Meanwhile, lecturers are encouraged to provide more information about their modules that can assist students to sample/evaluate without a face-to-face lecture.
* Except for hourly lectures that are conducted twice per week.

How do I change the lecture group for a module?
If the module has not been allocated to you yet (i.e. the module appears in your 'Selected Modules' list), drop the module and re-select it with the correct lecture group.
If you have already been allocated the module, you will have to drop the module and re-bid for it under the proper lecture slot. Note that only 50% of the points that you have paid to secure this module will be refunded to you.

Tutorials
-
I cannot register (i.e. rank/add/drop/swap) for a particular module's tutorial.
Please check if the module is available for balloting during that particular iteration using:
- The 'Tutorials Available for Balloting Reports' (Useful Info)
- The 'Detailed Module Info' listings - 'Tutorial Time Table' link (Schedule & Module Info)
- Can I select and bid for a module if its lecture timetable clashes with the tutorial timetables of my allocated modules?
Unfortunately not. However, modules with large enrolments generally offer many tutorial groups at different timeslots.
It is important to check whether your timetable would be able to accomodate all your lectures and tutorials, especially for modules with small enrolments where there are few timeslot choices.
- I cannot find the tutorial classes for a particular cross-listed module.
For cross-listed modules that do not have tutorial groups of their own, please check the tutorial groups under the parent module code even though you are registered under the cross-listed module code.
-
There are only a few tutorial classes for a particular module (e.g. 4 out of 8 classes) available for me to select and rank. Where are the rest?
Some tutorial classes may only be open to students of certain courses.
Also, certain modules may have different tutorial classes tied to each lecture class.
e.g. NM2220 has two lecture classes - Lecture 1 and Lecture 2.
Lecture 1: Available tutorial classes are DW1, DW2, DW3, DW4, DW6, DW9.
Lecture 2: Available tutorial classes are DW7, DW8, DW10, DW11, DW12.
If you have been allocated Lecture 1, only the DW1, DW2, DW3, DW4, DW6, DW9 tutorial classes will be visible for selection/ranking.
-
I have not secured a tutorial class after the first balloting round. What should I do?
There are two rounds of balloting for each iteration (e.g. Round 1A and Round 1B). If you were not successful in the first round, you can try again in the second round. If you are still unable to secure an appropriate tutorial class through balloting, you can try acquiring a class in the 'Add/Drop/Swap' round.
-
I want to switch my allocated tutorial class to another class in Round 1B of balloting, but I cannot drop my allocated class and perform ranking again. Why is this so?
Students who have been allocated tutorial classes in Round 1A of balloting cannot rank those tutorial classes again. Adding/dropping of allocated tutorial classes can only be done during the 'Add/Drop/Swap' round.

Bidding
-
How do I find out if I am able to bid for a module in the current round?
For the same module, current bidding is available to different students at different bidding rounds.
Please determine the module type code (e.g. 01 - Essential) and points account (Programme or General) that are applicable to you for that module.
Once you have that information, you can refer to the following reports to check if the module is available to you in a particular round:
- Modules Available for Lecture Bidding Reports (Useful Info)
- Detailed listing of module types available for bidding (Useful Info)
If the module is not available to you for current bidding in that round, or if there is no quota available for that lecture class, the record will appear under the 'Advance Bidding' section in CORS.

The message "You are not allowed to drop the module(s) as the total MCs of your allocated modules will fall below the minimum number of 15 MCs that students are required to read in a semester." appeared when I was in the process of dropping my module(s). What should I do?
Please proceed to your host faculty/department to seek their assistance in dropping the module for you.

My bid was the same as the winning bid for a module. However, I was not allocated the module. Why is this so?
If there is a tie situation, a first-come-first-served rule will apply.
E.g. There are two places available for a module.
Bid A: 150 points (9:00 AM)
Bid B: 150 points (2:00 PM)
Bid C: 150 points (2:01 PM)
Bidders A and B will get allocated the module, as they placed their bids earlier.

-
I accidentally/unintentionally dropped a module which I obtained through bidding. Can I get my module reinstated?
As dropping a module involves an additional confirmation step, we trust that students are sure that the module should be dropped. As such, the module cannot be reinstated and the refund policy will apply.
You may try bidding for the module again, or submitting an online appeal if the bidding period is over. Please note that appeal approval is subject to various conditions, such as the availability of quota.
