We will only be able to assign specific degrees to specific days when the graduation numbers are more confirmed. Usually, this will be some time in April at the earliest.
Q2. There are two dates and times for my Faculty’s Commencement ceremonies in the schedule of ceremonies. Can I choose which ceremony to attend?
No, you are required to attend the ceremony to which your degree has been allocated. Please check the schedule of ceremonies for the specific date and time of the ceremony that your degree has been allocated. The schedule of ceremonies by degrees will be available in the Commencement website some time in April.
On the Day of Ceremony
Q1. What time must graduates arrive at the University Cultural Centre for the ceremony?
Seating time for graduates commences one hour prior to the official start time of each ceremony.
To ensure that the ceremony starts on time, all graduates must be seated inside the UCC Hall at 10.30am for the Main Ceremony (which will be held on Monday 8 July 2013 at 11.00am), and at 9.40am/2.40pm/7.40pm for the remaining morning/afternoon/evening ceremonies, respectively. The seat number for graduates is printed on the Graduate Attendance Card.
Q2. What should I wear on the day of ceremony?
The dress code for Commencement is smart/formal. The Academic Dress generally looks good against a white background (e.g. white shirt/blouse). Male graduates are advised to wear a long-sleeved shirt, tie, smart pants/trousers and dress shoes. Female graduates are advised to wear blouses, skirts, trousers, or formal dresses and court shoes.
Do not wear shorts, bermudas, denim jeans, flip flops, sandals and excessively high-heeled shoes.
Q3. What will the ceremonies be like?
The nature of the ceremonies every year is similar. You may view the ceremonies of the previous year here.
