* As the seat numbers are computer-generated, those who do not register online by 1 June 2011 will not be sitting with their graduating cohort, or be presented according to their class of honours/major.

** Each graduate is entitled to 2 invitation cards for their respective ceremony. Valedictorians and award winners will receive 4 and 2 VIP invitation cards respectively instead of 2 invitation cards. These invitation cards may be collected together with your academic dress at the Multi-Purpose Sports Hall during the gown collection period.

*** Applicable only to students graduating in Semester 2 of AY2010/11 or within 1 March to 30 June 2011

April Ceremony Schedule

Find out the ceremony date and time for each faculty.
23 April to 7 May Semester 2 Examinations
(For students sitting the Semester 2 Exams)
Submission of the "Request for Special Consideration" form to explain absence from examinations etc. must reach the Dean's Office of your home faculty by 11 May 2011, 6pm.

30 May Online Release of Semester 2 Examination Results
Inform your home Faculty (Dean's Office) should you change your earlier decision on graduation within 3 calendar days of the online release of examination results for your Faculty.

Further information for students in:
Students from Cohort 2000 and after will be awarded one (1) degree only – either a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) or an Honours degree. The BA degree, once conferred, cannot be rescinded. Students who have received the BA degree cannot return to NUS to do their Honours. Students who have filed for BA but are eligible to continue with the Honours programme; and wish to continue to read their Honours, MUST retract their file for graduation within 3 calendar days from the date of release of their examination results.

For FASS students who are graduating with BA Shared-Major or Double-Major in two subjects, please note that you will be scheduled to attend the Commencement Ceremony for the subject listed as Major 1.

You can check which subject is your Major 1 by viewing your GAPS Summary at the Graduation and Academic Planning System website. Should you need to change your Major 2 to Major 1, please write to FASS Dean's Office through fashelp@nus.edu.sg no later than 1 June 2011.
Graduating BBA/BBA(Acc.) students who obtain a Cumulative Average Point of at least 3.5 in their graduating semester will be eligible for admission into the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Program. Such students who wish to pursue the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Program are to inform the Dean's Office (via email to Ms Karen Lam at bizlamk@nus.edu.sg) of their intention within 3 calendar days from the online release of exam results. Failing which, it is assumed that they do not wish to pursue the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Program. No late request will be considered. [Students who opt to pursue the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Program will not be awarded a BBA/BBA(Acc.) (non-honours) degree. Students who had rejected the offer for admission into the BBA/BBA(Acc.) Honours Program previously will not be considered again.]
Architecture 4th year students who decide to exit the Concurrent Degree Programme at the end of Semester 2, 2010/11 must inform the Dept of Architecture (akilhl@nus.edu.sg) by 1 June 2011 in order to register for Commencement 2011. Presently, students are not expected to graduate and consequently, are not eligible to register for Commencement.


1 June Closure of Online Attendance Registration for Commencement 2011
(For all graduates and potential graduates)
Attendance not submitted to the Registrar's Office by the end of this day will not be eligible to attend the Commencement ceremonies in 2011. All graduates are advised to ensure the following:

  • that you have updated your Commencement attendance in the Online Attendance Registration System;
  • that you have submitted your request for additional invitation cards when registering your attendance
  • that you are working closely with your faculty administrators on any changes to your graduation status following decisions/requests made after the release of the examination results (especially for undergraduate students and coursework graduate students)
  • that your theses must be uploaded to Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations by 12 noon on 1 June 2011 (only for research graduate students).

20 June Seating Arrangement of Graduates & Information on Request for Additional Invitation Card(s)
of Graduates

(For those who have registered their
attendance by 1 June)
You may check your seat number here if you have registered your attendance online by 1 June 2011. Otherwise, please refer to the seat number printed on the Graduate Attendance Card. The card will be given to you when you collect your academic dress at the Multi-Purpose Sports Hall. If you have not ordered the academic dress, you are still required to go to the Multi-Purpose Sports Hall at the scheduled time to collect the package of the Graduate Attendance/Invitation Cards.

If you have been allocated additional invitation card(s), you are able to collect the card(s) at either the Academic Dress Distribution Centre (Multi-Purpose Sports Hall 1, Sports & Recreation Centre), from 23 to 28 June 2011 (excluding Sunday) when you collect your academic gown and invitation pack, or the Information Counter at University Cultural Centre on the day of your Commencement ceremony.

Please note that as some ceremonies may have a larger number of graduates than others, there are less (or no) spare seats available for those ceremonies. We are sorry if we are unable to accede to everyone's requests.

During Commencement, we have prepared viewing areas/room at Level 1 of the University Cultural Centre. Please invite your guests to view the live webcast of the ceremony if you do not have the additional invitation card. Your guests will need to register at the Information Counter for an admission card to the viewing room. Due to limited seating in the viewing room, admission is based on first-come-first serve basis. Alternatively, you may also view the live webcasts of all ceremonies via this website.

Graduates are requested to collect their Invitation Package (which includes a Graduate Attendance Card and entitled two Invitation Cards for their parents/guests) with their Academic Dress (if they have ordered) according to the collection schedule to avoid long waiting time.

If you have not ordered the academic dress, please also come at the scheduled time and inform the staff that you only require the package of Attendance/Invitation Cards. They will assist and show you to the appropriate booth.

Degree scrolls are issued out during the Commencement ceremonies to graduates who have registered their attendance.
