The NUS Commencement logo draws its inspiration from the occasion. Commencement denotes new beginnings, marking a new chapter in the graduate's personal development and the start of a new relationship with the University, as an alumnus.

This new dawn is captured as a sunburst, on the ascent. At the heart of the rays of beams is a perfect round orb. It represents NUS as a global university and a knowledge centre. Just as the rays radiate from it, they also lead back to the orb, a reference to the graduates’ multi-diverse career paths as they leave the university  without ever ceasing their life-long ties to their alma mater. This strong bond is reflected in one particular beam that cast its luminosity across the entire logo and beyond, in the same manner with which NUS will continue to inspire its alumni long after they have left campus portals.

The logo is enhanced by a strap line. The words "Celebrating Excellence" defines the occasion and the pride with which the University confers its degrees on the graduating class.

The logo is portrayed in several colour themes. It is best illustrated in the University colours of blue and orange to bring out the ever-lasting glow of life-long connectivity. It can also be interpreted in blue monotone and greyscale versions for more versatile applications.
