Setting Up IMAP Client
What is IMAP4?
IMAP4 stands for Internet Message Access Protocol version 4. It is a method of accessing electronic mail that are kept on a mail server. In other words, it permits an email program to access remote message stores directly without downloading them to the your desktop.
For example, email stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer at home, a workstation at the office, and a notebook computer while travelling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.
IMAP4 clients will require 3 essential pieces of information in order to work, namely:
- Incoming mail (IMAP4) server: imap.nus.edu.sg
- Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.nus.edu.sg
- Mail server user name: domain\your Exchange userID
- Outgoing mail server user name: domain\your Exchange userID
To ensure secure communication for email, all email clients accessing NUSmail must connect via secure channel for all email communication. SSL connection is required for all IMAP4 and SMTP connection.
