NUS LargeMail increases the email storage capacity by a whopping 16.0 Giga-Bytes for all staff and 1.0 Giga-Bytes for all students. What makes this possible is the management of hierarchical storage with respect to the Information Lifecycle of typical email data.

New emails are important and needs to be accessed in a timely manner. They enable us to work efficiently in order to handle daily work, or simply for timely communication. At best, they need to be accessible at a click of a button.

Older emails become less important and less critical as each day passes by. We leave them unattended most of the time and refer to them only once in while; We are unlikely to delete them though we might not refer to them again. We also do not want to be spending precious time sorting and deleting emails. We really want to spend more time on work or persons that really matters.

NUS LargeMail serves to seamlessly migrate older emails to a second-tier storage while maintaining very much the same look and feel on Microsoft Outlook. This is done without user intervention in order to make way for new and important emails.

In this way, we will not lose emails and get to keep them for as long as we like. We will also spend less time managing them in the long run.

Outlook (Windows):-
Virtual VaultVirtual Vault feature provides an interactive way to view and work with archived emails.
Archived emails will be now presented via Outlook Personal-Folder (PST) -like folder inside Microsoft Outlook email client. Simply navigate to the PST-like folder called “Vault - <User_name>” and discover all the archived emails under the same mailbox folder hierarchy.

Virtual Vault brings you the following functionalities.
- Preview archived emails in rich text format with attachments
- Create a copy / move / Drag & Drop of original items from Vault to PST / Exchange Mailbox
- Perform advance search operation in outlook to find emails with selected text/attachments
- Can easily attach old archived emails as attachment from vault without the necessity to restore
- Delete archived items from Virtual Vault.

Note:-
- For the Virtual Vault setup to be successful, a minimum of 3 GB free space is mandatory on the C: drive.
- Users must exit the outlook client once and open it again for the Virtual Vault setup to kick start. It might take few days for the PST-like folder called “Vault - <User_name>” appear on your Outlook.
Outlook 2011 & Entourage 2008 (MAC):-
LargeMail supports Entourage 2008 & Outlook 2011 Clients for MAC. The following actions on archived items are supported
Store, Restore, Delete, View, Forward, Reply & Reply All

Note: -
- Users using Entourage 2008 & Outlook 2011 clients for MAC OS X must download the installer from LargeMail website (http://www.nus.edu.sg/comcen/nusmail/email-archive-tips.html#33) and install it.
- Mac OS V10.6 (Snow Leopard) is the current latest supported OS version for MAC EV Client. Staff using Mac OS version 10.7(LION) or higher is not supported.
- Entourage 2008 & Outlook 2011 for MAC OS X users will not be able to retrieve / restore old archived emails. Only new emails archived after installing the LargeMail client for MAC can be retrieved/restored.
Outlook Web Access (WebMail)
LargeMail allows Outlook Web Access (WebMail) users to perform EV operations such as Archive, Restore and Delete.

Archive Explorer interface via Outlook Web Access (OWA) allows to search/filter archived emails and perform Delete, Restore, Copy/Move selected items to Mailbox.
