14 September 2009 saw the launch of a new look for our Staff Portal (http://www.nus.edu.sg/staff). With a customer-centric usability design, all possible work-related information, be it policies, guidelines, compliance procedures, applications for research grant, or transactional e-services, are all easily available at one glance, in a single location. All these have been put together through the concerted efforts of stakeholders from the Offices of Provost, Deputy President (Research & Technology), Centre for Instructional Technology, Computer Centre, Estate and Development, Financial Services, Human Resources, Libraries and Resource Planning. Through your feedback, information retrievals are now made more accessible with the use of different browsers, including Firefox and Safari. We have now included My Shortcuts for instant access to frequently-used services and, if you have noticed it, there is also a robust Google search engine to take care of your Search-over-Browsing needs. With a wealth of University-secured content to draw on, including those from the faculties and departments, we hope that the Staff Portal will one day become your de-facto entry gateway where all work-related information and transactional e-services are conveniently available at your fingertips, providing a unified Portal experience for all faculty members and staff. Work does not stop here. In the coming months, we will continue to incorporate and reference-link information other than those currently available to the Staff Portal. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your valuable feedback which has helped us enhanced the Staff Portal during the redevelopment exercise. Chew-Goh Swee Wah |

![]() I work from a corner in the Computer Centre building. Life was pretty mundane. Every day, I make sure that all the emails you send are delivered correctly and promptly to the recipients. Day in, day out, I just check and make sure that all your emails are sent properly. |
![]() Since the initial setup of NUS' first overseas Point of Presence or POP in short in North America, Computer Centre has progressively established traffic exchange peering arrangement with esteemed North American Institutions. Located in the largest state-of-the-art data centre building in Hong Kong, the newly established POP brings much closer linkage to Asia-based institutes. |
Have you heard of the term ‘Cloud
Computing’ and wondered what has it got to do with you? |
