Silent Threats to IT Security

Windows Mobile Phone on your PC Desktop
 Steve Kwa Lam Koon

You are hard at work at your Desktop PC working on that latest project.  Suddenly your Windows Mobile phone's SMS beeped.  You reluctantly stop everything you do to pick up your phone.  Fingering on that small on-screen, correcting a few typo errors made, and now the SMS required you to make changes to some appointments.  You launch the Pocket Calendar on that same tiny screen, tapping awkwardly or furiously, and again correct some typos along the way.  You begin to wonder; 'Wouldn't it be nice if I can use that wiz-bang 19” LCD monitor, full size QWERTY keyboard, and that comfortable 5-button scroll wheel mouse right in front of me for my Windows Mobile phone functions!'

Wonder no more. The solution is here, and it’s FREE!
Use MyMobiler (http://www.mymobiler.com) You can do all the above from the comfort of your Desktop PC and MORE.

Just connect your Windows Mobile phone to the Desktop PC using Active Sync (if you are using WinXP) or Windows Mobility Center (if you are using Vista).

Download the MyMobiler installer and launch it from your Desktop subdirectory MyMobiler, as shown below:

Right-click on the MyMobiler icon in the System Tray and select connect.

Once that is done, double-click on the MyMobiler icon.  The familiar Windows Mobile interface from your phone will be echoed on your Desktop PC.  You can now access all the functions of your Windows Mobile Phone from your Desktop PC.

Need a larger view of your Windows Mobile phone? Just press Ctrl-0 to Ctrl-3 to cycle through the different display size for your comfort level.

Worry that the constant connection and screen activation will deteriorate the screen of your Windows Mobile phone?  Pressing F11 will blank it off, leaving you with full access to your phone from your Desktop.

Need to do some file transfer between your Windows Mobile phone and desktop PC?  No problem.  Just launch the Mexplorer.exe from your MyMobiler directory and you are all set to do all your file transfers.

And that is not all.  If your Windows Mobile Phone is WiFi-enabled, you will be able to do all of the above without any physical wires connected to your desktop PC and Windows Mobile phone.

I will leave it to you to explore. ;-)
