NUS Instant Messaging is supported by Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 is a communications application that helps staff and students become more productive by enabling them to communicate and collaborate easily with others in different locations or time zones using a range of different communication options. The options include instant messaging (IM), voice, desktop sharing and video. Integration with programs across the Microsoft Office system - including Outlook and SharePoint - gives end users many different ways to communicate directly from the context of their task.

Staff and students can quickly check the presence of fellow colleagues and students, and if permissible, collaborate instantly. This saves time over the usual mode of communication such as email.
