1. What is the system requirement for installing Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 on my PC?

Please refer to the following table for the minimum system requirement to install the supported configuration:

Processor Intel Pentium 500MHz or faster processor (1.5 GHz or faster recommended to ensure optimal performance, especially during video communication)
Operating System Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) or later, Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7
Disk Space 20 MB of available hard-disk space
Memory 512 MB of RAM or greater (256 MB or greater recommended)
Video Display Super VGA (800x600) or higher-resolution monitor
 

 

2. How can I search for staff or students in NUS to be added as my contacts?

To search for users, enter part of their names or their userid as shown below. A list of users will be returned and you can then add them as your contact by right-clicking on the correct match.


3. Can I see the list of contacts that I have created earlier when logging on from another workstation? Do I have to add them in again?

All contacts created on the Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2 are saved on the server and will be available wherever you are logging in from.


4. Can I archive message conversations for viewing later?

This option is available on a per conversation basis or on a global basis.

Per conversation basis: Press <Alt>, click on File, Save as.. at the end of the conversation to save the entire conversation.

Global basis: Press <Alt>, click on Tools, Options. Under Personal, check the save my instant message conversations in the Outlook Conversation History folder. You will then be able to find all conversations in Outlook's Conversation History folder.


5. Can I add contacts on MSN/Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger?

This option is not supported on Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2.


6. I cannot login to Office Communicator 2005 after logging in to Office Communicator 2007 R2. What is wrong?

Due to a product limitation, users who has started using Office Communicator 2007 R2 will not be able to login to Office Communicator 2005. This is due to an upgrade of the account on the server side. Please evaluate the following options which you may take:

a. Upgrade all copies of Office Communicator 2005 to Office Communicator 2007 R2 on all workstations that you are going to use.

b. Continue to login to Office Communicator 2005, this is possible though not encouraged due to the unavailability of advanced features.
