provide a single point of contact for quality technical support to its local and global users.

- NUS and SCS Pte Ltd entered into a MoU agreement for the development of Tera-Scale Campus Grid (TCG) at NUS and promotion of Grid technology in the region. TCG began with 800 PCs on campus by harnessing the idle CPU cycle for the support research work.
- IBM Pte Ltd, in partnering Intel Pte Ltd, sponsored the setting up of Grid Innovation Zone (GIZ) at NUS to enable Grid applications and promotion of Grid computing technology on campus.
- The first Access Grid node was set up to support large-scale interactive collaboration with other research institutions. With its specialised integration of applications and various digital input devices, a full visual and audio experience can be reproduced at a remote location, setting it apart from the traditional videoconferencing solution.
- Adoption of IA 64 technology and further expanded the cluster system to a capacity to 844.84Gflops.
- Established the first CIO forum where all the institutes of higher learning (IHLs) in Singapore have entered into a MoU agreement for an official forum for further collaboration on IT development and management for higher education. The idea was first mooted in NUS enabling a common platform for benchmarking, sharing of best practices and demand aggregation for better economy of scale. [more]
- Established the first Wi-Fi roaming zone among several IHL-CIO forum members, enabling seamless wireless access to the IT resources offered by the home institutes when the students move from one campus to another. [more]
- Established full wireless coverage for the entire campus and offered the highest performance at 54 Mbps with 1,000 wireless base stations deployed in over 100 buildings for a strong user population of 32,000. It was one of the first large-scale deployment of 802.11g-enabled wireless network in Asia Pacific. [more]
- Successfully commissioned a Paperless Admission System with integrated access to the A-Level academic records and personal particulars for the prospective students in seeking admission to the University without having to submit the data again.
