Computer Centre embarked on the phase I SAN implementation which consolidated storage for SAP database servers, SVU nfs servers, 12 Exchange Servers, CIT MOD/VOD servers. LSF batch management and load-balancing environment was implemented across all SVU systems. NUS became the first academic institute on South East Asia and among the first in Asia Pacific to install the powerful Compaq GS320 server. Notebook Ownership Scheme crossed its target of 10,000 units sold since its inception in 1998. The NUS campus network NUSNET entered into its 4th generation NUSNET- IV. Establishment of NUSCERT as a central, trusted point to handle computer emergencies, disseminate bulletins and promote security computer awareness.
