NUS Chinese Dance

Established in 1977, NUS Chinese Dance is an accomplished dance group with more than 80 members comprising students and a strong alumnus. Each year, we welcome a consistent intake of talented and promising dancers, allowing for growth in strength and number. NUS Chinese Dance is guided by Ms Ding Hong, Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer, and Mr Zhou Lei, Technique Instructor.

Our repertoire ranges from the technically demanding traditional and tribal folk dance to contemporary Chinese dance. While we continually strive to stay true to traditional Chinese dance forms, we are also keen to explore new styles and choreography in order to achieve greater heights of performance. The result is often interesting and unusual dance pieces from refreshing new perspectives. Though close partnerships links and various external engagements, we aim to foster expertise and experience in Chinese dance, as well as an appreciation for Chinese culture.
