Thean-jeen is one of the most prolific and acclaimed writer-directors working in the Singapore
independent production industry today, having written, directed, edited and overseen over forty
hours of award-winning television and film in the last ten years.
Previous productions include The Singapore Short Story Project (Best Drama Series,
Asian Television Awards), AlterAsians (Best Single Drama or Telemovie, Asian Television
Awards; Hors Concours Selection, Banff Television Festival 2000), and
Gourmet China: A Living Legacy, produced as the inaugural project of the Documentary
Director's Chair programme for Discovery Networks Asia.
As an industry professional, Thean-jeen has also participated in various industry panels and
committees. He was a Finals judge for the International Emmy Awards, and has been on the judging
panel for the MDA National Scriptwriting Competition and the inaugural Panasonic Digital Filmmakers
Award 2004.
Thean-jeen is a summa cum laude (First Class honours equivalent) graduate of
Boston University's College of Communication, specializing in Broadcasting and Film. He is
currently in development on a feature film with Singapore-based film company Raintree Pictures. |
